Pure awesome.

Galliano, “Slack Hands”
Classic Trip Hop Week continues with a cut from the indispensable 187 soundtrack. You might recognize Neil Young’s “Old Laughing Lady” there at the end.
Hooverphonic, “2Wicky”
Because it’s Tuesday and everybody needs to chill the hell out.
Because I will be forever jealous that Courtney saw this performed live mere feet from her face.
Because if playlists were physical things, I’d identify my most used one as “TRIP HOP 1994-2001” with masking tape and Sharpie.
Around 7:30 this morning. In the car. Listening to Sweet’s “Ballroom Blitz.”
At a red light, Ollie’s bopping around and humming along in the back seat.
“Hey, you’re really rocking out back there, kiddo.”
Ollie stops moving, looks me in the eye, and annoyedly deadpans, “Can you just turn it up a little, Dad?”
Later, when I notice that he’s also “rocking” to “Copacabana,” I feel that we’re even.
Let me be very clear: I have no use for what Gloria Estefan has become, but in 1985, Primitive Love was awesome.
Or as we said back then, awesome to the max.
“Triops Has Three Eyes,” They Might Be Giants
This is about to go into heavy rotation during Oliver drivetime.
